YOUR BEST BROWS: A Q&A WITH CARLY CARDELLINO

If you’re feeling panicky about the state of the world—and the lack of control you have over it—you’re not alone. We find comfort in taking a step back and allowing ourselves a minute to focus on what we actually can control. That’s why we’re devoting this newsletter to a few inches we have complete control over: Let’s talk about eyebrows.

Now isn’t the time for dyeing or attempting to dramatically reshape them. Instead, do for your brows what we hope you’re doing for yourself: Focus on health, nourishment, and self-care. That way, when this is all over, we can emerge from quarantine looking like Brooke Shields in The Blue Lagoon.

If you need help growing out your brows, try daily biotin supplements, the go-to for healthy hair, skin, and nails. Our pick, as recommended by the #skoopcertified Warren Tricomi salon, is Nutrafol. And Rogaine applied directly to the eyebrows is a great off-label hack  — just be careful not to let it drip in your eyes! And for those looking for a natural fix: Castor oil is the tried-and-true secret of Regina Barbosa from #skoopcertified Maria Bonita Salon. Apply it every night to eyebrows for a few weeks.

If you want to add (light) brow shaping to your growing list of quarantine talents, tweeze strays around your natural brow shape (the area where most of your brow hair is). Anastasia tweezers are our favorite, but you do need a few other tools in your kit. Carly Cardellino, a former Cosmpolitan beauty director, says, “Just like your hair needs dimension, your brows need dimension, too.” She starts by using IT Cosmetics’ Brow Pencil in universal taupe to fill in her brow line. Apply using short, careful strokes to make it look like your natural brows. Cardellino then grabs this Saie tinted brow butter that adds a little bit of color for a fuller look. Finish by locking your brows into place with a clear or tinted brow gel. We love this one from Thrive Causemetics
